A recent poll by the National Sleep Foundation found that one-third of Americans are losing sleep over the the current state of our economy. People are more stressed out and that stress translates into increased sleep problems which in turn lead to increased health problems. The decreased amount of sleep can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke and heart disease.

At Nevada Sleep Diagnostics, we know how important sleep is. We have been diagnosing sleep disorders for over 11 years. If you are having problems sleeping, talk with your doctor. You can also check out the sleep hygiene tips under the Sleep Disorders topic on our website.

Remember, sleeping wise, sleeping well is vital to your overall health. If you are always tired, Nevada Sleep Diagnostics can help!

Fast Facts

In general, most healthy adults need 7-9 hours of sleep a night. However, some individuals are able to function without sleepiness or drowsiness with as little as 6 hours of sleep, while others cannot perform at their peak without 10 hours of sleep.

We naturally feel tired at two different times of the day; 2:00 AM and 2:00PM. It is this natural dip in alertness that is primarily responsible for the "post-lunch dip".

In general, exercising regularly makes it easier to fall asleep and contributes to sounder sleep. In contrast though, exercising sporadically or right before going to bed wil make falling asleep more difficult.

Snoring is the primary cause of sleep disruption for approximately 90 million American adults; 37 million on a regular basis.

Approximately 80%-90% of Americans have sleep apnea and don't even know it.
